Getting Caught Up...

I've gotten a bit behind on my posting of pictures and stories and I offer my profound apologies to my family and friends that like to keep tabs on my activity. Here are a few pictures to give you a taste of what has been happening with me and my family, but many more pictures will be found on my flickr account and then you can look at specific pictures by selecting one of the sets along the right side of the screen.

Thanksgiving Mischief

Well, by now you all know that a when I come home for some form of break it means that some kind of mischief is going to happen. Thanksgiving Break was a lot of fun! :) The Prankmasters were at it again!

Getting the job started. We always have a well thought-out plan that usually ends up being changed at the last minute. But, that just adds to the joy and excitement of doing something like this.

Part of the prank this time included removing the toilet paper and putting corn cobs in its place. I know, we're a little young to know this stuff, but you never know about us...

This is probably my favorite "mischevious act" that we have done so far. We took the bedding off of Delmer and Lorey's bed and placed plastic sacks underneath the sheet, smoothed out so you couldn't see them. In this picture we were trying to measure out every little detail about the way the bed is made everyday so they wouldn't get suspicious.

Another part of the prank included finger painting in their basement. Don't worry, we were very careful and did not get a single drop of paint or anything on their floor. We hung them up to dry on the clothes line in the basement. I hadn't finger painted in YEARS! That was a very good idea, Tabbie!

We each made our own picture for them and also a collective one with all of our hand prints so they would never be able to forget us.

Band Banquet 2008!

These are some pictures from Band Banquet 2008. It was a great night and lots of memories were made. Here are just a few...

Here's the "Pride of the Plains" Trumpet Section (minus a few that couldn't make it).

This is my friend, Troy. For some reason this semester we've become pretty good friends and have enjoyed picking on each other like we would a brother and sister.

Laura and Mike. We were the Leadership Team members in the trumpet section. Even though I was the section leader, I couldn't have done it without them.

This is Bob. I've kind of taken the role of a mentor with him. He reminds me a lot of myself when I was a freshman. I see a lot of potential in him as a future music educator.

The docs always start off the dance portion of the night. Here's Dr. Schnoor and Dr. Davis dancing the first dance with their wives.

Now the party is getting started!

Halloween Prank!!!

Halloween is a GREAT night to pull a prank on friends...even if one of them almost catches you...TWICE!

This was plate full of cookies, however, we wrapped it up more than a few times so there ended up being pockets of air. So, we called this our "cookie pillow".

It was rather interesting trying to get this ornament on the basketball hoop. I found a ladder in their quonset and used it, but Tabbie, who was holding the ladder, was shivering so bad because she was cold and kept making the ladder move and shake.

This is what I mean by saying that we almost got caught twice. The first time we had just pulled into the driveway and rounded the well when we saw headlights coming up. Grandpa was just getting back from the field after helping my cousin Jeremy with harvest. So, the Prankmasters played it cool and he never knew we were there to prank the first time. But, it posed a challenge as we had to re-strategize. So, we ended up heading to the farm at 3:30 AM. This time, though, for some unknown reason, I saw Grandpa walking around the house! So, in a very loud whisper, I yelled at the other girls to hide and we ran around to the north side of the house. In all the commotion, a picture was taken. But, we didn't get caught! It cause us to become a little paranoid so we decided to end the prank soon before we got caught and finish it in the afternoon.

Here, we're finishing the prank. We're starting to get a little on the adventurous side and really utilize all of our resources. Besides, TP-ing a person's house is an oldy and a classic. Don't worry, we didn't get very crazy with the TP and kept it pretty simple.

Yep, we even got the fence around the corral. I think we did pretty well!

We have a new recruit! You're never too young to let out your inner Prankmaster!

See, Aron thought it was fun and was telling us to include him on our next prank.

Fall Break 2008!

I know, finally, some pictures from Fall Break! I had a great time visiting with my cousin Kelly in Wyoming. It was fun and relaxing. Just what I needed, too. Away from the stress of studies and the "real" world back home.

This is one of my favorite pictures. This was morning in Wyoming. The picture is so vibrant that it sort of looks like painting in my opinion. I don't know; I may just live there some day.

Kelly and I went to visit my Aunt Vicki at the Chimney Rock Visitors' Center. We then ventured up to the cemetery and scenic overview of the area. It was quite neat.

I even did a little work while on break. This may sound a little strange, but it really felt good to do some hard labor for a change.

A sunset in Wyoming. This picture was taken from Kelly's backyard. This is my favorite picture from the trip.

Kelly and I after having lunch on the last day I was there. Thanks, Kelly! We'll have to do this again sometime!

Campfire!

After you've had a difficult week, all you want to do is relax and have a little fun. So, what's the first thing that comes to mind when you plan an event? Well...friends...fun...and of course...FIRE!!! And, the best way to combine all of those elements is...campfire!

It's great finding people that don't have to be smashed in order to have a good time.

Labor Day - Catching Up!!!

I'm a few weeks behind on my posts --- so, here's my attempt to get caught up.

Over Labor Day weekend the Miller Family gathered at Duane & Laurie's house to have a relaxing time and celebrate birthdays. It was a great time with video games (of course), hot tubbin' and the lake. This is the first time I recall getting everyone together during Labor Day.

Duane & Jacob playing each other on Wii. I told you before, this game can get intense.

Grant against Shelly. I'm pretty sure Grant won this round.

Duane & Laurie have a golf course in their backyard, literally. It was fun to go out and pretend that I know what I'm doing.

Birthday cake! Jacob, Josh and I all have birthdays within 3 days of each other.

I had 21 trick candles on my cake. Thanks, Shelly! For being a trumpet player, I didn't have nearly enough air to blow them out. While I was trying my hair caught on fire! Eventually, we had to pull the candles out and throw them into a glass of water.

Just cruising on the lake. Duane and Laurie let us all use their boat for some fun on the water.

Tubing was the main event. Here's Jacob showing us his skill.

Nicholas & Tyler loved just playing in the water. After they figured out they could float and wouldn't go underwater, it became even more fun.

Josh even hit the waves on the tube. I was quite impressed! He said it was great!

Nathan enjoyed being on the tube as well. I think he also had the best wipeouts.

After a day at the lake, one tends to get a little tired. Here's Tyler all tuckered out on the drive back to Duane & Laurie's.

Cousins! Aren't they wonderful! Next year we'll have to get everyone together.

There's many more photos from the weekend on my flickr account.

Weekend at the Lake

My dad, Uncle Lee and I spent the weekend at Pawnee Lake outside of Lincoln. It was sooo much fun! What a wonderful way to end the summer and prepare for classes!

Dad just sitting back and relaxing as he waits for a fish to bite.

A beautiful sunset over the lake. The picture doesn't even compare to actually being there in the moment.

Dad and Uncle Lee trying to figure out how they can make the boat go faster. Boys will be boys...

Dad cruising on the water and making some waves.

Then it was my turn...I was going so fast that I nearly lost my hat!

Yep, that's right, I caught the biggest fish of the weekend.

Sounds in the Summer

Here are some pictures that were taken during the UNK Sounds in the Summer Marching Band Clinic. It was fun with a lot of learning and skill development.
