I've started calling these horses my "adopted babies" because whenever I have a free minute back in Aurora I go out to the Wadell farm and visit them. Sometimes I spend a couple hours out there just combing and brushing them. I've always had a soft spot for horses. I'm pretty sure that Grandpa Wadell is tired of me asking to go riding all the time.

This is Betty. I think we have the strongest bond. All I have to do on most days is drive up in my car and she rushes to the gate and greets me. When I use the curry comb on her she places her head on my shoulder; sometimes it seems like she falls asleep.
Oakley...the boss. She is definitely in charge of the other horses. She is usually a sweetheart but every once in a while I'll catch her on a day where she's feeling a little ornery. Must be her owner. (Ha! Just kidding, Grandpa!)

The gentle one and all the kids' favorite, Amber. This is the horse that all of the little kids ride on when they visit. It just so happens, this is also the one that I fell off of last October. It was a freak accident that no one can really explain. Somehow the reins broke and off she went.
