Saturday night, the town of Aurora and surrounding area received anywhere from 4"-6" of rain. As a result, many creeks and ponds flooded leaving a few travelers needing to find alternate routes to and from places. If you don't believe me, look at these pictures. My little brother, Josh, and I decided to do a little driving around to see just how bad we could get stuck. Don't worry though, I wasn't too adventurous.Sunday morning we suddenly had a moat around our house protecting us from the advancing armies of other kingdoms.
This is the creek running through "Grandma and Grandpa's" pasture. It has gone way over its banks.
The creek that runs through Streeter's Park in Aurora was definitely flooded. The gravel trail leads straight ahead and under the bridge. I don't think anyone's going to be walking that path for a few days.
Still at Streeter's Park, the creek normally runs just wide enough to fit underneath that little walking bridge. With the way the creek's flooded, one would have to swim just to get to the bridge.
Getting a little closer to home, this is one of the intersections just south of our place.
Another flooded road south of our farm.
Getting Caught Up...
I've gotten a bit behind on my posting of pictures and stories and I offer my profound apologies to my family and friends that like to keep tabs on my activity. Here are a few pictures to give you a taste of what has been happening with me and my family, but many more pictures will be found on my flickr account and then you can look at specific pictures by selecting one of the sets along the right side of the screen.
